How do I work out the length?

Gauge (post/bar thickness)
1.2mm/16 gauge is the most common size ears are initially pierced with using a needle. 0.8mm or 1mm gauge may be better for piercings which have shrunk or were originally pierced with a gun.

316L surgical steel is hypoallergenic but does contain a small amount of nickel. The nickel release rate is only around 0.02 0.02μg/cm2/week but it may cause a problem if you are very sensitive to nickel.
